I don't believe it and its nearly two feet in the grave. Last night's blog is being written today because yesterday I was so angry and I needed time to check out a few facts. Yesterday Parliament, in trying to sort out the Brexit mess, held another series of “indicative” votes to try to find a way forward. So, what did these votes indicate.
- Most Conservative MPs have no intention to take part in the process and have no intention of compromising to give something back to the British public who pay their inflated salaries. Many just voted against all 4 options and that shows exactly the above. In grammatical fact, if you are asked to give your preferred option(s) you cannot say no to all of them unless you would prefer something else, as in this case a no-deal crash out. So the “indicative” procedure certainly indicated that.
- Members of the Cabinet have no opinions (this usually occurs in a dictatorship so maybe no surprise there) and by extension (now there's a word to play with), they have no brains as they all abstained. Interestingly today there will be a 5 hour meeting of these 23 brainless people. By the end of it they may have decided what time to have biscuits. May (haha) I suggest bourbons as they came to a sticky end. Failing that a few oreoleans may help them to last a bit longer.
- There are still some reasonable MPs in the House of Commons.
- If the other ones had voted in the spirit (another far better name to play with – oh an idea) of what was intended we would have had a majority for one, two or even three of those indicative votes.
- We now have irrefutable evidence that it is the Conservative government and the Conservative party who have caused this crisis, are prolonging this crisis, have no interest in democracy or the welfare of the British public and will in time be destroyed by their own inadequacies. MAY I give you a RUDDerless government, that COXs (OK poetic licence) things up, has no heart (its only organ is a HAMMOND) and finds FOX HUNTing more palatable than democracy and has LEAD SOMe people to the edge of the cliff. The rest of us just sit and GAUKE. And please no suggestion of another mass debate with Mr HANCOCK. The SPIRIT (@lara_spirit) (Our Future, Our Choice) of this country lies with a new generation and if they had their way we would be home and DRY (@Will_DryOFOC) and I, for many, are delighted. These young people bothered to go to Norway to find out how that system works and some, I believe, are doing this as a gap year. Amazing. Students always have and should take gap years, Shame that for Conservative MPs it is a gap (between the) ears that has not only been taken but has formed part of a three-year course. 2 April 2019
I've become occasional. These daily blogs are now encroaching too much on my normal work and so, from today until at least the end of April, they will become occasional, appearing when I have the time and indeed the urge. Sunday paper, late edition.
